Continuing our long standing relationship with Bedfont© Scientific Ltd we have developed an exciting software framework to complement their new range of handheld breath monitors and offer continued support and new features for their existing range.
Instead of releasing separate stand-alone software packages for each device, the new framework offers an ‘app store’ where new apps can be downloaded to support new products as they are released. Along with supporting new devices, updates to existing apps can be installed via the store without the hassle and cost of having to distribute physical media or instructing customers to download updates from a website.
When a device is connected to the PC via USB the software checks for updated firmware and prompts the user if a new version is found. An interactive firmware update tool is then loaded to guide the user through the process.
Apps and firmware versions can be uploaded to the server by Bedfont© via a web interface, this interface also includes a change log for all published updates that can be viewed by the end user via the framework.
The framework has been released with two initial apps:
This app supports the Smokerlyzer© range of devices and records CO (Carbon Monoxide) levels for patients trying to quit smoking. Readings can be taken directly from a connected PiCO™ or Micro+™ device or alternatively tests can be stored within a database on the Micro+™ device and then synchronised with the software. Within the software, graphs showing the patients progress can be viewed and a report showing readings, an interpretation of results and a graph can be produced in PDF format to be printed and/or emailed.
This app supports the Gastrolyzer© range of devices and is used to record H2 (Hydrogen) and CH4 (Methane) readings for patients suffering from gastrointestinal disorders. Tests consist of a number of readings taken at specific intervals and the tests can either be controlled by the software or run externally on the Gastro+™ device and then synchronised with the software. Within the software graphs showing the test results can be viewed and a report showing readings, an interpretation of results and a graph can be produced in PDF format to be printed and/or emailed. Alongside this functionality, criteria based reporting can be performed on the stored data and exported in multiple formats including Excel, CSV and PDF.
New apps are being developed for the framework to support an ever growing range of devices…
